Hansen, Clark and Cantrell to Host World Series of Backgammon
Gus Hansen, a poker and backgammon pro is regarded as one of the best players in the circuit. Gus Hansen is the champion of the 2007 Aussie Millions poker and a four time champion of the World Poker Tour. John Clark is an experienced backgammon player and poker host.
Clark is also Britain's number one backgammon player for the past ten years now. Jessie Cantrell is the popular host of Black20 News, a broadband entertainment channel.
Jessie Cantrell will be reporting the World Series of Backgammon which will be shown on Eurosport 1 and 2. This impressive trio will be reporting the backgammon action at three tournament locations on the World Series of Backgammon circuit: The British Master in London-November 2007, the TrueMoneygames Nordic Backgammon from Copenhagen, Denmark-March 2008 and the Riviera Cup from Cannes, France-July 2008 before hosting the finale of the WSOB from Cannes.
The second season of the backgammon circuit will create four champions. The top eight players from three tournaments and the top eight online qualifiers will receive 10,000 euros buy-in slots to the World Series of Backgammon main event.
The World Series of Backgammon finals will be held immediately after the end of the Riviera Cup in France and will require players to compete in a shoot-out, three point backgammon matches that are used in the three WSOB tournaments.
Most online partners will also compete in the satellite events that will be held in the coming months to determine the top eight online players who will win seats at the final tournament of the season.
The Live WSOB qualifying events will be held during the first round of the WSOB at the British Masters at the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square. The tournament will be held from September 2007 to November 2007.
The producer of the WSOB, Andy Bell said that they are very excited to bring the tournaments to backgammon enthusiasts all over Europe.
The new gaming format of the WSOB is also challenging and connect three top class backgammon tournaments. They are sure that the tournament will be educational and at the same time enjoyable to the participants and the viewers as well.
