Uli Koch Wins the CasinoRip.com London Open Backgammon Championship

Uli Koch of Germany has been crowned as the inaugural champion of the first ever CasinoRip.com London Open Backgammon Championship after edging out Julian Fetterlein in a tense heads-up showdown on June 7th, 2009. Sponsored by online skill games organization CasinoRip.com, the London Open Backgammon Championships attracted top class backgammon players from as far as the countries of Romania, United States and Japan competing in a fifty-six strong field.

The event was played out in the British capital overlooking the River Thames and some of London's famous landmarks while thirty competitors joined in intermediate and casual events with a total cash pool of more than 12,000 pounds.

Professional Backgammon player Koch is one of the most respected backgammon players in the world after winning different tournaments since he first started playing in the 1970's. He battled through numerous rounds in London to eventually meet Fetterlein in the final, another respected backgammon players in the circuit that has won a lot of events in the past.

Mike Main, the Director for event organizers backgammon in London, said that the quality of game play and a fantastic setting made it an interesting weekend. Main congratulated both finalists for a job well done and thanked all of the other competitors and CasinoRip.com for making the event successful.
